Content Preparation

Create and format your videos and images

The digital signage process begins with creating or gathering videos and image assets. The creative department in a company either builds these assets themselves or acquires them from an outside source (e.g., an advertising company, educational DVD's, or web portals with multi-media content). The creative team prepares the videos and images to ensure that the assets are formatted properly for screen creation and for playback on the media player(s). All digital signage networks include technical guidelines and formatting recommendations to assist in this regard.

There are third party applications useful for creating and editing video and image assets. Products like Adobe Premiere, Adobe Illustrator and Grass Valley Procoder, to name just a few, are effective at producing quality videos and images that can then be given to the team responsible for building the digital signage screens.

Cilutions works with customers to provide guidelines and recommendations in the use of these third party products. Recommendations include:

video and image editing applications which have been used successfully in our digital signage networks

image file formats and resolutions to match specific media player capabilities

video file formats, codecs, bit rates and resolutions to match content distribution network capacity and media player capabilities

video and image file storage capacity planning
