text Attributes

The text asset is a static text string on a single line. Its attributes are:

Name: A user-defined string which can be a helpful reference to individuals creating or modifying assets. This field has no impact on the DMB player when the asset is played. If Local Edit is enabled the Name can be used to help describe this asset; used as a helpful hint to the local user.
Local Edit: Used to enable or disable local editing of this asset at the user location. If enabled, the media player on the STB will permit editing using a browser or iPad/Droid app locally logged into the STB.
Source Type: Text indicates that the Source attribute contains the literal string to be rendered in this text field. Record indicates that the Source attribute points to a file containing the character string to render.
Source Index: If the Source Type is Record then the Source Index attribute designates the field within the file containing the string to render. Fields are comma-separated with their relative position numbered as 1, 2, etc. So, for example, if the field to render is the second field in the file the Source Index value would be $2. If the file just contains the character string to render then the Source Index value would be $1. Putting the text to render in a separate file offers greater flexibility where a text asset can be updated on the screen by simply updating its corresponding record file.
Source: A string to render or the name of a record file containing a string to render.
X and Y Coordinates: Pixel addressing of the upper left-hand corner used to position this asset on the screen.
Width and Height in Pixels: Size of the text zone. 1280x720 is a full screen setting on an HD Amino STB.
Font: One of the built-in fonts available for use (e.g., Arial, Frankfurt, Helvetica, Nasalization). The fonts are selectable from a pull-down box in Screen Builder and must match the capabilities of the player on a STB.
Font Size: The font size in pixels.
Foreground and Background Color: Foreground is the color of the text. Background is the color of the area, based on width and height, that the foreground text does not cover. Values are represented as ARGB notation (e.g., for black). The first digit represents transparency with 0 being fully transparent and 255 being fully opaque.
X and Y Alignment: Used to position the text string inside the background area as X(center, left, right) and Y(bottom, center, top) alignments.
Maximum Media Age: Optional attribute which applies only when the Source Type is record. This lets a user set a time limit (i.e., a maximum age) of the record file containing the text string. If the file fails to be updated (i.e., its time stamp stops changing) for Maximum Media Age seconds then the DMB player assumes that the text in this record file is no longer timely (e.g., a out-of-date weather report). In this case the player will replace the Source attribute with the Backup Source.
Backup Source: The backup string to render if Maximum Media Age expires.
