Does the DMB Player Support an HTML Asset?

Postby Edward.P » Fri Apr 20, 2012 10:07 am

I want to be able to render an HTML page in a screen zone on my Amino A140 STB running the DMB player? Like build a screen with a bunch of buttons where a user presses a button to render the HTML page corresponding to a URL (like it would render using, say, the Opera Browser).

Can I do something like this?

Native support for HTML will be provided in a future release of the DMB Media Player. Meanwhile, customers use HTML capturing tools to:

Periodically capture an HTML Page using a program on an external computer (e.g., a Windows machine)
Save the output of the HTML (how it would look in a browser) into a graphics file which can be rendered by the DMB image asset (e.g., png, jpg)
Configure the player platform (e.g., an A140 STB) to periodically pull the graphics file from the location where it has been saved
Place the image asset in a screen zone as desired

One such HTML capture program is WebShot from http://www.websitescreenshots.com

Hope this helps.

Beginning with the December 2013 release the A540 and A140 STBs support the following HTML Browser Capabilities:

Opera Browser Screen Manager: Here the user can configure the STB to start Opera, full screen, instead of the Digital Media Bridge Screen Manager. This configuration is selected using the STB configuration web forms. In Opera mode, the user can designate the starting URL to display when the STB boots up.

Browser Asset: Here the user can designate a Browser Asset as a screen zone when using the Digital Media Bridge Screen Manager. The Browser Asset is set and configured, just like all other assets, using the DMB Screen Builder application.
