The following is a helpful a guide for the initial installation and configuration of the The Dude SNMP Manager on the Windows platform where the SNMP Proxy is running. The Dude is a free SNMP Manager available here: http://www.mikrotik.com/thedude.php. These steps apply to version 4.0beta3.
1) Install thedude accepting the defaults.
2) Load the Cilutions-provided AMINO-530-MIB using the "Mib Nodes"->File tab
3) Identify the serialno of an STB to be managed (e.g., GF3111D0021932). This should be an STB configured to register with the SNMP Proxy. The procedure to configure this is described in a separate forum posting.
4) Create an SNMP Profile named PROXY (the SNMP Proxy), version 1, Community SNMP_PROXY
5) Create an SNMP Profile named GF3111D0021932 (in this example), version 1, Community GF3111D0021932
6) Create a Probe named GF3111D0021932-ConfReboot, Type SNMP, Agent default, Snmp Profile GF3111D0021932 with "Treat service as available only ip up" checked, and Oid:
iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.cilutions.css.prod.multimedia.amino530.amino530ConfGroup.a530ConfReboot.0.
The Oid Type is integer, Compare Method is "==(equal)" and Integer Value is 1.
7) Create a Device named GF3111D0021932-ConfReboot pointing to address 127.0.0.1 (the local platform, where the SNMP Proxy is running)
8) Add a Service to Device GF3111D0021932-ConfReboot selecting Probe GF3111D0021932-ConfReboot for the service.
Device GF3111D0021932-ConfReboot should now appear in "Network Maps"->Local and appear as green if the STB is up and Red if it is down. This configuration shows the state of the STB. Other MIB variables can be configured to show, for instance, active video.
Repeat the steps above to add more STB serialnos and/or MIB variables for STBs.
