- Stored Locally on a Hard Drive: Loaded onto the hard drive in a variety of ways. Here the DMB Player streams the video file internally, to the local video decoder (e.g., Amino h.264 TS decoder), to play on a locally attached TV.
- Stored Remotely on a Network Share: Here the DMB Player mounts the network share (using NFS) and streams the video
file, reading it over its network connection to the share, to the local video decoder for playback.
- Streamed from a Remote Source: This is typically used to render live video. The DMB player can reserve either a full-screen or partial-screen zone to capture and render incoming video real-time (not from files).
For Streamed from a Remote Source there are six models of streaming video reception supported by the DMB Player on Amino STBs:
- UDP Multicast: Here the Amino player receives an incoming video stream engineered (in the network) to arrive at a reliable rate for playback. This is often used on satellite networks with reliable multicast capability.
- UDP Unicast: Here the Amino player receives an incoming video stream engineered (in the network) to arrive at a reliable rate for playback. This is often used in local networks using an external encoder configured to transmit a video stream towards a well-known STB IP:Port to play.
- QVIDIUM-powered: Here our signage and VOD software works with the qvidium (http://www.qvidium.com) proxy server to provide live Internet-based playback. This works together with qvidium equipment in the data center.
- Cilutions Darwin-based Server with our Amino Transport Receiver: We provide a Darwin Streaming Server which works with the Amino STBs for unicast playback of a live stream. Cilutions' transport receiver client offers repair for packet loss and repair for jitter to provide a reliable, low cost, live streaming solution for compatible streams (e.g., transport streams).
- RTSP Server: Here the Amino player makes a connection to an external RTSP Server offering a video stream for playback. Contact support@cilutions.com for a list of RTSP Servers compatible with Amino STBs.
- HTTP Live Streaming: The latest support in the Amino A140 and A540 STBs offering http-based playback using standard web servers (e.g., Apache).
