My HLS Video Stops Playing

Postby Henry.G » Sat Aug 18, 2012 11:26 am

I am trying to add an HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) video to one of my screens.

Just to test I am using this URL:http://xtv8vailx.api.channel.livestream.com/3.0/playlist.m3u8

It runs for a while but eventually gets to a state where the video stops. Looks like I have to reboot the A540 to recover.

Any thoughts?

Can you look at the log file which reports on all player activity?

It turns out that this can occur after many hundreds of HLS video asset restarts. It requires an STB reboot to recover. Amino has been notified of this condition and a fix will be supplied in an upcoming release, but is not available now.

So if you have an HLS video asset which restarts a great deal (for example, a screenlist with two 60 second screens which play in a loop where one or both of the screens contains an HLS video asset - hence it restarts frequently) this fatal HLS failure can occur after a day or so. Factor this limitation into your screen design until a fix has been published.
