File Distribution
The 1990s gave birth to the concept of a Content Delivery Network (CDN), in which a system of computers was networked together across the Internet to deliver large files and other rich media content to end users. CDN nodes were required to be deployed in multiple locations, often over several different backbone networks, as close to the edge – which defined "last mile proximity" to the end user. These edge nodes or servers cooperated with each other to satisfy requests for content by end users, transparently moving it behind the scenes to optimize the delivery process.

With the proliferation of private broadband networks that interfaced directly with the Internet backbone, the need for dedicated CDNs diminished. More importantly, the business environment gradually adopted the use of IP multicast technologies and software-based content delivery solutions that could work with existing network infrastructures.

Cilutions’ File Distribution is a perfect example of a transport and platform agnostic software-based solution, which is very pertinent to the needs of the business enterprise world. By deploying Digital Media Bridge (DMB) sending (server) and receiving (client) software in the existing nodes of a corporate network, an enterprise can automatically deliver audio, video, and data files from a central location to thousands of receivers with delivery guaranteed. To ease the integration of DMB into a current network infrastructure, Cilutions supports a wide variety of legacy platforms by making available a number of Application Program Interfaces (APIs).

Cilutions’ File Distribution solution works efficiently over a satellite network as well as through other broadband Internet connections such as DSL. Also, Cilutions’ File Distribution solution can be offered as a stand-alone appliance or as an installable software application.
